CAF Membership Opportunities
There are many ways to become a member of the CAF. There are options for regular memberships, life memberships, associate memberships and Cadet memberships for young adults aged 12-18. And, as a member of the CAF, you also have the opportunity to join CAF units and get close and personal with aircraft restoration, maintenance and operation.
Becoming a member of the CAF gives you many benefits, including discounts on services and purchases.
The CAF is a non-profit, tax-exempt historical and educational organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
As a CAF Colonel, you are eligible to become a member of a CAF Unit or join an aircraft support team. You will also enjoy the privilege of flying in a CAF aircraft on a space-available basis or as a qualified crewmember. In addition to the benefits above, CAF Colonels receive:
- CAF badge, wings, and commission certificate
- Membership card
- Monthly magazine Dispatch
- Free admission to the CAF Airpower Museum
- Gift Shop discounts
Active U.S. Military, Guard and Reserve personnel can join the CAF at the Colonel level for a discounted rate of just $100 the first year. The special rate is for new members only.
Preservation Colonel: $300 per year
Become a Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force where you can Get Your Hands on History and support the CAF Airpower Museum? As a Preservation Colonel you receive all the Patron membership benefits PLUS:

*International Colonels will be asked to submit an additional donation of $5 per month to receive printed Dispatch
In addition to all the benefits a Colonel receives, Life Memberships also include:

Life Members may upgrade to Gold Life Member for $1,000 and receive:
- Gold name tag
- Gold on black leather name patch

Cadet memberships are open to students ages 12 to 18. Benefits include:

As an alternative to full CAF membership, you may become a Supporting Member. You will receive:
- Membership card
- Quarterly subscription to magazine Dispatch
- Free admission to the CAF Airpower Museum
| Wing, Squadron or Detachment Membership: $25 to $50 per year (depending on the Unit) |
Becoming a Unit member puts you where the action is—close to the aircraft or their operations. CAF Wings and Squadrons are located in 28 U.S. states and four foreign countries and are assigned the responsibility of maintaining aircraft. Detachments are responsible for various disciplines within the CAF, such as Marshalling, Security, Communications, Medical or Explosives Ordnance.
To be a member of a Wing, Squadron or Detachment, you must first be a CAF Colonel, Life Member or Cadet. Unit members often receive additional benefits, including:
