It’s official. It’s airshow season, and that means the Commemorative Air Force at EAA AirVenture 2017 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin! Come and enjoy the Top 10 CAF Things To See. Here’s what’s happening this week:

 

1. The Cobras

This year, witness a sight unseen since the 1940s when our three P-63 Kingcobras (two CAF) join our P-39 Airacobra in flight throughout the week. The aircraft scheduled to appear are the CAF Dixie Wing’s P-63A, John Bagley’s P-63C-5, Sponsor Group’s P-63F, and joining them the P-39 from the Central Texas Wing.

 

2. B-29 FIFI

Watch FIFI of the B-29/B-24 Squadron unite with B-29 Doc over the skies of Oshkosh. These two warbirds are the world’s only two flying B-29 Superfortresses, and together for the first time in four decades!

 

3. C-47 That’s All Brother

Catch up with the C-47 That’s All Brother, the iconic warbird that led the D-Day invasion, and learn about the restoration of the decade! View That’s All Brother’s timeline, talk with the restoration crew, and help to get this warbird ready for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy in 2019.

 

4. Warbirds in Review

Monday, July 24 through Sunday, July 30, head on over to Warbird Alley for Warbirds in review at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. each day to see some of your favorite CAF warbirds, like the Dixie Wing’s P-63 Kingcobra! Hear about these featured aircraft’s restorations and history, and listen to veterans share their stories and experiences with these amazing aircraft.

 

5. The WASP AT-6

Meet one of the newest members of the CAF Fleet, the AT-6C Texan commemorating the service and dedication of the Women Air Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II. Discover one of the aircraft that these valiant women flew as they trained male pilots, dodged ammunition as live targets, and hauled supplies back and forth between bases.

 

6. The 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid Tribute

Watch an unforgettable tribute as we remember the 75th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid, and commemorate sole surviving Doolittle Raider Dick Cole. The tribute will be held during the Night Air Show on Wednesday, July 26, and will include the CAF B-25s Miss Mitchell and Devil Dog.

 

7. Hangar 57

8. CAF RISE ABOVE: Red Tail Exhibit

Find the RISE ABOVE: Red Tail Traveling Exhibit at KidVenture during EAA AirVenture and meet Tuskege Airman pilot Harry Stewart! Stop on by to get his autograph and thank him for his service July 27 – July 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. And don’t forget to watch the original panoramic film “Rise Above” about the Tuskegee Airmen, America’s first black military pilots. 

 

9. The CAF Member Gathering

Hang out with new and old buddies during this year’s CAF Member Gathering. This event is for all CAF Colonel members.

 

10. The TORA TORA TORA Bomb Squad
