Lancaster, TX, August 11, 2017: Be sure to attend the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Warbirds on Parade at the Lancaster Airport on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event attendees will have a chance to experience the very military aircraft and warbirds which played a significant role in America's fight for freedom. Countless books and films tell the tale of how warplanes and those who fought for our freedoms changed the course of history. CAF Warbirds on Parade gives you an opportunity to get an up-close look and tour vintage World War II, Korean and Vietnam-era aircraft.

Approximately 20 warbirds will attend this static event, including vintage bombers, fighters, cargo and trainer aircraft. A Hind 24 Soviet gunship, Mil-20 helicopter, Huey helicopter, CJ-6, PBJ, A-26, T-34, PT-19, AT-19, T-28, L-19, Japanese Kate and a Zero will also be in attendance. Assorted military vehicles, living history reenactors, WWII-era demonstrations and more than 100 classic cars will round out the displays for an unforgettable day.

The CAF Dallas Fort Worth Wing, the organization presenting the event, is based at Lancaster Airport and holds aviation events year-round. This unit of the Commemorative Air Force maintains WWII aircraft that include a Douglas R4D-6, a Stinson L-5 Sentinel, a Vultee BT-15 Valiant and a Boeing PT-17 Stearman. Wing Leader Keith Barrett says "We are always excited to hold CAF Warbirds on Parade each year. It is an opportunity to showcase our aircraft to the community and educate a younger generation about our proud American history. Any chance we have the opportunity to honor our American veterans and get the public excited about our country's history is thrilling."

New for this year, the CAF WASP Squadron, honoring the Women Airforce Service Pilots, will participate in the program with WASP educational curriculum, reenactors, and memorabilia. The WASP were the first women to fly American military airplanes during WWII. They ferried more than 12,000 aircraft over sixty million miles - yet their service to our nation went unrecognized for decades. The CAF WASP Squadron serves to honor the accomplishments of this remarkable group of women, while inspiring and educating today's generation of young people.

The Lancaster Airport is located at 736 Ferris Rd, Lancaster, TX 75146 off of Beltline Road between I-45 and I-35. Click here for directions or follow GPS coordinates at this link. The suggested donation for entry is $10 per car or $5 per person. For more information about this event please visit www.dfwwing.com.

The Commemorative Air Force is the world's largest flying museum, and collects, restores, and flies World War II aircraft. After a nationwide search, the organization recently selected Dallas to be its new headquarters, because of the city's commitment to growth, while also preserving the best of American history and culture.

For more than 60 years, the CAF has been dedicated to honoring American Military Aviation through flight, exhibition, education and remembrance. Fulfilling its mission, the organization maintains airplanes in flying condition - taking the airplanes to the people to experience first-hand the sight and sound of the aircraft in flight. The CAF produces many aviation events across the country, including the CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow which annually attracts more than 90,000 spectators and was the 2016 Airshow of the Year. CAF Wings Over Dallas is scheduled for October 6 - 8 at Dallas Executive Airport.

A non-profit educational association, the CAF has more than 11,000 members and a fleet of 165 airplanes distributed throughout the country to 70 CAF units for care and operation.
