The Commemorative Air Force and the Ray Foundation are excited to offer the CAF Pilot Scholarship program which provides an individual up to $12,000 to attain a pilot's license.
See if you qualify to participate in this exceptional program. All participants must fit the following criteria to be eligible.
- Age 16 through 19 (applicant must apply before their 20th birthday)
- Possession of FAA medical certificate
- Possession of student pilot certificate (Check with unit)
- Passed ground school and FAA written exam
- Begin flight training within 60 days of accepting the award

The CAF understands the challenges and roadblocks that exist for young people to get their pilot’s license. That is why we are so excited to work with the Ray Foundation in creating a program that sets the scholar up for success. The combination of experienced mentors, a rigorous timeline, and financial assistance, all serve to support young people through the process and set them up for success. This program is a big commitment, and all participants including scholars, guardians, CAF Units, Unit Scholarship Coordinators, and Flight Instructors are encouraged to review all the expectations and timelines thoroughly before applying and/or agreeing to participate. Meet with your CAF Unit to decide if this program is a good fit for you
FAA WRITTEN EXAM
You must complete and pass the FAA written exam before applying

When you have completed the scholar checklist, your unit will provide you with the scholar application
CREATE A PLAN
Work with your CAF Unit and CFI to create a plan of action and a timeline for finishing the program
FIRST SOLO
Complete your first solo flight
FINAL COMPLETION
Complete all FAA steps to acquiring your private pilots license
