Days Pay Squadron Receives Assigned Fairchild PT-23

Dallas, Texas, August 21, 2023- Last week, CAF Pilot George Abatt arrived at CAF National Headquarters to pick up Fairchild PT-23 N60727 and bring her to her assigned Unit, the Day’s Pay Squadron. Abatt departed Dallas (KRBD) on August 19 and made his way northwest to the aircraft’s new home at Richland Airport (KRLD) in Washington State. The flight distance from Dallas to Richland is 1,513 miles. Abatt flew 22.2 hours over five days in the Fairchild PT-23.

The Day’s Pay Squadron was established in 2022 in Richland, Washington. The Unit covers the region of Eastern Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The Commemorative Air Force acquired the PT-23 in 2022 as part of the New Unit Initiative. The aircraft was brought to CAF Headquarters, where staff readied the airplane to be flown to Washington State.
