Warbird Showcase!- Culpepper Regional Airport
As Virginia begins to re-open for business, so will your Capital Wing. We're planning to kick-off the 2020 "airshow" season with our own Warbird Showcase on Saturday July 11 and Saturday August 15. Both events will be at our hangar, Culpeper Regional Airport KCJR, and be open to the public, subject to whatever COVID restrictions may be in place at that time.
So Save the Dates! Our Warbird Showcase will need your help to make these events a success. Volunteer to setup and manage all the attractions we'll be offering. We'll be providing additional details on the events as we get closer to the dates. - PX - STEM activities - 50 cal machine gun turret (new) - Museum tours - TBM Wing Walk - Member Recruitment - Warbird Rides - Static warbird displays
There will be lots of flying during our Warbird Showcase events. We'll be selling rides in 5 aircraft throughout the day. - Stinson L-5 Sentinel - General Motors TBM Avenger - Boeing PT-17 Stearman (graciously provided and flown by member Lee Fox)
OK. That's three WW2 warbirds. What are the other two? Glad you asked.
We'll be flying rides in the Fairchild UC-61 Forwarder which we volunteered to hangar for the CAF HQ after the Old Dominion Squadron disbanded. And under a similar arrangement with CAF HQ, we'll be able to fly rides in a North American SNJ, the Navy version of the T-6, from the Buffalo (NY) Heritage Squadron.
