Family Day at the Airbase Arizona Flying Museum
Our special Family Day runs from 10 am to 4 pm with reduced admission and activities for young and old. Adult admission that day is $5 per person or $10 for a family group of four (children age 5 and under are free). The special activities offered include: • Kids Adventure Hunt (ages 11 and under) -- apply reading and recognition skills like a detective to solve eight mini-mysteries. Handout available all day. • Hidden Treasures Tour (all ages) -- get the inside scoop on many unique military artifacts and little-known stories from the side-bars of history, and found in the exhibits at Airbase Arizona. Tour takes about 30 minutes and is offered at 11 am and 2 pm. • Fly a Balsa or Foam Airplane (ages 11 and under) -- Our activity area will be open for supervised flying of toy aircraft. One will be provided or bring your own design (wingspan no larger than 20 inches). • Tommy Tailspin - 1930s Vintage Movie Serial (all ages) -- Follow the exploits of young aviation entrepreneurs and the evil crooks who try to stop them. Showing all day in video seating area on museum floor. • Featured Warbird for July - the C-47 'Old Number 30' -- This actual combat veteran flew airborne troops in the invasion of Sicily; spy, mule (yes MULE!), and supply drops in the Balkan Campaign; then left military service in 1946 to become an airliner and then an executive aircraft.
