Commemorative Air Force In the Community

Nationwide (January 23, 2026) – Community engagement is one of the foundations that keep the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) flying. From volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to aviation enthusiasts who attend airshows, events, and fly in our aircraft, community involvement is essential. Across the country, each CAF Unit develops its own unique culture rooted in local support. In return, many Units find meaningful ways to give back to the communities that have continued to support them.

Airbase Georgia

Airbase Georgia is participating in Georgia’s statewide Super Museum Sunday and will be open from noon to 4:00 p.m. on February 8. The Airbase invites the public to enjoy a free afternoon of aviation history, restored World War II aircraft, and hands-on learning opportunities. Super Museum Sunday marks Airbase Georgia’s first public outreach event of 2026. It also serves as a celebratory kickoff aligned with the national observance of America 250, commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. The event underscores the museum’s role in connecting local communities with the people, innovations, and sacrifices that shaped the nation.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Airbase Georgia’s hangar, learn about the restoration of historic World War II aircraft, meet volunteer members, and discover how the largest flying museum in Georgia serves as a living classroom for all ages. Airbase Arizona

Airbase Arizona hosts a monthly Family Day at its museum and invites visitors to bring the whole family. This month, on February 14, Airbase Arizona will celebrate Arizona’s birthday with a special focus on history. Falcon Field played a critical role in training American and Royal Air Force cadet pilots during World War II.

Guests can enjoy special reduced family pricing, and children ages 12 and under can participate in an aviation technology challenge sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol. Get your hands on history and attend a Family Day with Airbase Arizona. Find more information here about Family Day and how you can join the fun.

Southern California Wing

The Southern California Wing emphasizes education as a way to give back to its community. Through a series of seminars, screenings, and presentations, the Wing brings the history and culture of the Greatest Generation to audiences across the region.

On Saturday, February 28, the Southern California Wing will host author Becky Aikman, who will share the stories of nine women who served in World War II. Drawing on unpublished diaries, letters, records, and her own interviews, Aikman brings these forgotten heroines to life in a vivid, richly detailed account of war, ambition, and remarkable courage.

The “Spitfires” presentation tells the heart-pounding true story of daring American women who piloted some of the most dangerous aircraft of World War II through Britain’s treacherous skies.
