Battleship Texas Forever Flights
Battleship Texas and CAF supporters have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a 1-inch steel tile made from the hull of BB 35. The tiles will make a historic return to Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the Normandy American Cemetery as part of the commemoration activities of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
Battleship Texas Forever Flight participants receive a 1-inch square steel tile from the hull of the Battleship Texas that will soar over Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc on Ready 4 Duty, a 1944 U.S. Navy R4D aircraft based and operated by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). Ready 4 Duty is making the 10,000-mile round trip from Texas to France this May/June to symbolically bring the U.S. Navy – and the Battleship Texas – back to Normandy for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
BB 35 steel tiles will be mailed to participants once the mission is complete, along with:
• Dated and signed Certificate of Flight,
• Sealed vial of Omaha Beach sand,
• Navy to Normandy mission patch and challenge coin, and
• Aerial photos of Battleship Texas and Ready 4 Duty.
The Battleship Texas Forever Flight is available for a donation of $500. All proceeds go to the continuing restoration and operational activities of the Battleship Texas Foundation and the CAF. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive your tax-deduction letter shortly after you make your online gift.
