CAF Rainier Squadron's Tulip Flights In the Pacific Northwest
Arlington, WA- (April 30, 2025) — This spring, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Rainier Squadron provided an extraordinary opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and nature lovers alike: scenic flights over the vibrant tulip fields of the Skagit Valley. Departing from Arlington Municipal Airport, passengers experienced the breathtaking beauty of Washington's springtime blooms from the sky, all while aboard a historic World War II-era aircraft.
The aircraft at the heart of this experience was the CAF Rainier Squadron's meticulously restored 1944 Stinson AT-19 Reliant, serial number 77-333. Originally built in Wayne, Michigan, this aircraft served with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm under the designation FB605 as part of the Lend-Lease Program during World War II. After its military service in the East Indies, the aircraft returned to the United States, eventually becoming a cherished part of the CAF's collection. Now based at Arlington Municipal Airport, the AT-19 Reliant continues to fly, offering the public a tangible connection to aviation history.
