In this episode of CAF Warbird Tube, we explore those shared themes with author Dr. Jan Davis and her book Air Born: Two Generations in Flight. In the book, she connects her experiences as a Space Shuttle astronaut with the wartime service of her father, B-17 pilot Ben Smotherman. Shot down over Holland in 1943 and held as a prisoner of war for 21 months, Smotherman's experiences left a lasting legacy that Davis came to understand more deeply while researching his Wartime Log. Davis shares the remarkable parallels she discovered between her father's combat missions and her own journeys into space.
