The iconic bomber Texas Raiders was the first Flying Fortress to be operated solely for the sake of education and use as a flying museum. She is an accurately restored B-17, bristling with machine guns and featuring period-specific equipment. Joining the bomber at Lubbock Airport will be three other vintage aircraft including the world's only flying SB2C Helldiver, an SNJ Texan trainer, and a twin-engine JRB Navy transport in which the whole family can fly together.

The public is invited to enjoy onboard tours with the aircraft crews, or to take the ultimate Living History Flight Experience and see the Lubbock from the sky!

Admission to the event is $10/adult, $5 for children under 12, and $20 for a family of up to 5 and includes access to all the aircraft for cockpit tours and briefings by flight crews. Note: Follow the signs for "B-17 Rides". The event entrance is to the right of Silent Wings Museum on Cedar Ave. Ground tours will be conducted from 10 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday-Thursday, excluding flying times. A limited number of flights are available on the warbirds. Flights on the various aircraft range from $100 in the Navy transport to $380 in the advanced trainer to $995 in the Helldiver. Flights in the B-17 start at $495.

Don’t miss this must-do summer event! Put your hands on history and see historic American military aviation up close.
