Congratulations to CAF Colonel Susan E. Northrup, MD, MPH, who became the U.S. Federal Air Surgeon this month. Well-deserved, well-earned Colonel!

January 28, 2021, Dallas: The Commemorative Air Force would like to congratulate Col. Susan E. Northrup, MD, MPH, who became the U.S. Federal Air Surgeon on January 16. In this role Northrup will oversee the FAA's aeromedical education programs and planning of the aerospace medical and human factors research team, plus the investigation of aircraft accident medical factors. Northrup is a retired U.S. Force Colonel who participated in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. She is an experienced pilot, board certified in aerospace and occupational medicine. Northrup and her husband John Hyle are both CAF members living in Georgia. Congratulations Colonel on well-deserved and well earned position.
