Inland Empire Wing Flies Children from local Hospital

Inland Empire Wing Welcomes Families from a Local Hospital for a VIP Flight Experience

Riverside, CA (June 20, 2023) - The Inland Empire Wing hosted three children and their families from St. Joseph’s Cancer Hospital for a special day at their hangar.

Three children receiving treatment at St. Joseph’s were welcomed to the airport with a dignitary escort from the local police and fire department. Upon arrival, they were presented with special gift bags that included teddy bears, tumbler cups, and other toys that were prepared by volunteers. They were then transported to C-53 D-Day Doll in the Inland Empire Wing’s vintage staff car where a special photo op with their families was available. After boarding their flight, they settled in for their adventure in the sky.

While on the D-Day Doll ride, the pilots took a special route over St. Joseph’s Hospital so the doctors, nurses, and patients could see them fly overhead. After arriving back at Riverside Municipal Airport, they were presented with gold wings by CAF Col and Chief Pilot Steve Rose. The children, their families, and the Inland Empire Wing volunteers all had a very memorable experience.
