Lady Liberty Squadron’s New Hangar Mural Honors Military Aviation History
Enid, Oklahoma (May 25, 2023) — The Commemorative Air Force Lady Liberty Squadron at Enid Woodring Regional Airport is currently having a mural painted on their hangar that depicts America’s rich military aviation history and includes several nods to Enid, Oklahoma residents. The artist Tox Murillo is a local painter known for his realistic and colorful murals, featured on many other buildings in the area with various themes, from celebrities to futuristic graphics.
For this mural, Murillo will pay homage to several notable aviators and other national and local heroes, including three barnstormers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Wiley Post, aircraft engineer Clyde Cessna, and local veterans Ralph Baker, Rachel Esbaugh, Col. Leon Vance Jr., and Vietnam veteran Larry Stephens. The mural also features an eye-catching portrayal of the CAF Squadron’s assigned A-26 Invader, Lady Liberty.
The mural encapsulates both local and national pride and will be a significant attraction to bring people to the airport. The CAF Lady Liberty Squadron is thrilled to have the mural painted on their hangar.
