Mississippi Wing Upgrades Hangar and Welcomes New Pilots
Maddison, Miss. (April 4, 2025) - The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Mississippi wing is taking significant steps to elevate their unit. Major upgrades are underway at their hangar, and a new wave of pilots is taking to the skies. Wing members are striving to enhance their facilities, attract more members, and increase community engagement.
The Mississippi Wing has a strong reason to implement changes. In recent years, a few young recruits have obtained their private pilot licenses, and one member is currently getting ready for his check ride.
These upgrades and recruitment achievements signify an exciting time for the Mississippi Wing. The enhancements offer better resources for current members and foster a more welcoming environment for new recruits and visitors. As the Wing continues to host events and engage with the community, it hopes these changes will generate even greater interest in its mission and the Commemorative Air Force.
Starting in December, the unit launched a three-phase construction project on its current hangar, aiming to enhance functionality and the visitor experience.
CAF Colonel Kristen Stevens expresses excitement about the improvements, stating, “Pilots will finally have a dedicated maintenance room for organizing tools and equipment, which will facilitate smoother aircraft movement in the hangar.”
An air-conditioned pilot’s lounge is a welcomed addition, providing a comfortable space for members to relax and plan flights. The dedicated museum area will enable the Wing to effectively display its extensive collection of historical artifacts, creating a more immersive and engaging experience for visitors.
With committed members at the forefront, the future appears promising for the Mississippi Wing. Stay tuned for further updates on their website and follow them on their journey.
