ATLANTA, GA. (March 14, 2025) – Special Warbird Rides Days will offer opportunities to see or experience flights in meticulously restored World War II era aircraft from Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK). Five vintage planes based in Peachtree City, Ga., will arrive at PDK Airport May 24-25 for two days of exhibitions and flights, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The aviation event will help mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, the end of World War II in Europe, and 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Navy & Marines.

The historic aircraft restored and maintained by Airbase Georgia include a P-51 Mustang, SBD Dauntless dive bomber, LT-6 Mosquito, PT-19A Cornell trainer and a T-34 Mentor. Living History Flight Experiences on Airbase Georgia aircraft can be scheduled at https://airbasegeorgia.org/event/pdk-may-rides-day-atlanta-ga/.

“This is an amazing opportunity for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and family members of World War II veterans to experience a unique array of historic aircraft in Atlanta,” said Airbase Georgia Leader Joel Perkins. “DeKalb Peachtree Airport occupies the original site of Naval Air Station Atlanta, which trained Navy and Marine pilots during World War II. This event exemplifies the mission of the CAF, which is to educate, inspire and honor. We are proud to honor the memory of the Greatest Generation by offering rides in our historic aircraft.”
